TEXARKANA, TEXAS (KSLA) - A store clerk was stabbed at least twice with a screwdriver during a robbery.

Authorities say it happened Saturday afternoon at the E-Z Mart in the 2100 block of Texas Boulevard in Texarkana, Texas.

The clerk told police a man was waiting on her and demanded money when she came out of a cooler.

The man stabbed her at least two times with a screwdriver as she tried to flee to the front of the store, police report.

He also chased her and allegedly threatened to kill her.

The robber took her backpack and ran north after she told him she could not open the store safe.

Within minutes, police said, an officer found a man riding a bicycle at West 15th and Pine streets.

The man reportedly matched the description of the robber and had a screwdriver and the clerk’s backpack.

Oral Shorter Jr., 19, of Texarkana, Texas, was arrested on a charge of aggravated robbery.

He also is accused of stealing a 2018 Ford Escape on Friday night from a parking lot in the 500 block of West 12th Street.

The vehicle was recovered after Shorter reportedly told a detective where he left it immediately before the robbery.

“We also believe that the bicycle that Shorter was riding is stolen too, but no one has reported it yet,” authorities said.
