Grand jury indicts alleged child rapist
INDICTED: Christopher Michael Salone, 24, of Shreveport, 1 count of first-degree rape and 2 counts of sexual battery

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A Shreveport man suspected of sex crimes involving at least 3 juveniles remains in jail after being indicted by a Caddo Parish grand jury.

The panel recently handed up a charge of first-degree rape and two counts of sexual battery against 24-year-old Christopher Michael Salone, the district attorney’s office reports.

He remains in Caddo Correctional Center.

Salone was booked into the lockup Aug. 12 on 2 counts of molestation of a juvenile and one count each of first-degree rape and possession of marijuana. His bonds total $1,575,000.

Shreveport police detectives arrested him on charges that he sexually assaulted at least two children.

Investigators said Salone allegedly raped a 7-year-old on more than one occasion, with the most recent attack being in July.

In an unrelated matter, authorities reopened a case in which he was accused of sexually abusing a 9-year-old in September 2017.

After he was booked Aug. 12, information about a possible third victim was provided by Shreveport police.

The investigation into that case led to an additional charge of indecent behavior with juveniles involving a girl under the age of 10.
